Our scale models can range from simple designs, such as facade architectural model, to detailed models which are showcased at exhibitions, city planning offices, shopping malls, airport model terminal or musuems.
We pride our service in a high level of details, so our scale models may include technical details such as lighting effect and mechanical lifting device.
What is the timeframe for making models ?
Each architectural model is different, it will depend on the scale and complexity of the project. However, as a standard practise we could complete a detailed project in 4 weeks.
However, 3dr Models takes pride in maintaining high-quality model making service in tandem with efficiency so if needed; an order could be expedited to meet a certain deadline.
How should I send in information ?
Information can be sent electronically to us in the form of 3d files, CADs, PDFs, JPGs, etc via email or wetransfer (for huge files).
What info do I need to provide for a model quote ?
All files for the project would help us to provide an accurate quote, however, we would atleast require -
Site plan CAD file - to estimate the size and project outlines.
Any renders available- to understand the details of the project.
Once the quote is approved, all other files for the project can be given.
What files are required to built the model ?
3d files helps a lot in the model making process, including site, elevation and section CAD files. 3d files can be in sketchup, 3ds Max, Rhino format.
Masterplan CAD file. Landscape info and details.
We also require renders to understand the material finishes and color. If not, these can be provided in material and color charts in PDF format.
What materials are used for the model ?
We use high quality acrylic sheets which lasts for decades. They are lightweight, flexible plastic and give good finishes.
Seldom we get models that are made using wood or metal.
How to decide what should be the scale of my model ?
While we work in scales ranging from 1:1 to 1:10000, the appropriate scale for your unique model will depend on what you need it for.
The decision will depend on two factors: how much space is available to showcase the model and how much detail is required for the model.
We’d be happy to advice you on the pros and cons of using various scales.
How can I monitor progress on the architectural model making project?
Usually we send progress photos of the model every 3 - 4 days to receive comments and see the progress of the model. However, we are willing to provide you with updates on scale model construction as often as you request.
Can I come to visit in person?
Yes, we’d be excited to have you visit our offices to see the model in progress and also walk you through the scale model making process. We also can show you different scale models created before, and answer any questions you may have.
Can we deliver models anywhere around the globe ?
3dr Models is an international scale model making company, delivering models anywhere around the globe. Recently, we delivered models to Malta and Nigeria.
Do I need to see the final product of scale model in person before it is shipped out?
You do not need to come to see if it in person, but you may if you’d like.
The majority of our clients find photo confirmation sufficient, and we’re willing to take photos at any angles or perspectives of scale model to meet your satisfaction.
How will I receive the scale model?
We deliver the model tightly secured and packed in wooden crates, and air shipped to the location. We send our staff for the delivery and first time installation of the model.
Delivery arrangements will be discussed in the process of reaching a final quotation.
Will the scale models reach my destination safe ?
Our logistics department have over 23 years of professional packaging experience. They will create a custom-made box to fit the needs of each scale model and will use multiple layers of packaging protection if necessary. On the extremely low chance that your scale model is damaged during transportation, we will repair the model for free.
